What are CBD Oil Food Supplements Good For?

There are many reasons why men and women alike have turned to CBD oils and other CBD products as a holistic treatment for their health concerns. This food supplement is the centre of many testimonial claims regarding a range of health issues like anxiety, insomnia, fibromyalgia, psoriasis, arthritis, migraine and more.

If you search CBD oil online, you will find much anecdotal evidence claiming the various health benefits of CBD. In recent years clinical trials have also started to research such claims and put CBD oil to the test. But how does it work in the human body? CBD is just one of over 100 cannabinoids or compounds which are found in the cannabis plant group.

CBD, or Cannabidiol as it is chemically known, is found in different amounts in different plant members of this cannabis group. The cannabis plant family is made up of marijuana and hemp. The hemp plant is the safe, non-toxic plant of the two as it contains high amounts of the CBD compound and low amounts of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol).

These properties make it ideal for CBD extraction and to be used to make CBD products like oils, edibles and creams. The true effect of CBD on the human body is the question. Across the world CBD appears to be growing in popularity within the wellness market but please note it can only be sold as a food supplement in Ireland and many countries across the EU.

The CBD market cannot risk making medical claims which cannot yet be proven until more research is carried out, however customers continue to report the variety of effects this supplement has on their general health. So, is it all true, or is this just another step on the health trend ladder?

Is CBD Oil Good for Anxiety?

Anxiety is perhaps the most common reason people use CBD. Indeed, several studies have come up that test CBD’s ability to lessen symptoms of anxiety.

For example, a 2011 study from the Department of Neurosciences and Behaviours in Brazil tested CBD in patients with a generalised social anxiety disorder (SAD). Ten people got an oral dose or a placebo in a double-blind study. The results were about the same for both parties. With a dose of CBD, the patients’ anxiety went down.

Even more recently, a 2019 study published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine looked at CBD’s effects on PTSD when taken alongside routine psychiatric treatment. Over eight weeks, 11 patients took part in the study, and 91% experienced a decrease in their PTSD symptoms’ severity.

Is CBD Oil Good for Insomnia?

Similar to anxiety, many people take CBD to relax before bedtime.

Studies are currently underway to study whether CBD can help with insomnia. For example, a proof-of-concept study will examine whether a single dose will improve sleep and daytime function. Patients with chronic insomnia disorder will participate in the study.

Although there isn’t a large number of current (or published) research, the results of completed trials and studies sound promising.

Is CBD Oil Good for Fibromyalgia?

When you have chronic pain or fatigue, using CBD might prove helpful in regulating the pain. However, since the FDA doesn’t monitor CBD products (except for some epilepsy drugs), they haven’t approved it as a treatment yet.

Some earlier research has looked at cannabis-based products on fibromyalgia. Studies from Dutch scientists in 2019 looked at female patients with fibromyalgia, who were divided into groups and given four different types of CBD-based medicines. While the higher concentrations of CBD did relieve pain, it did not alleviate spontaneous or evoked pain.

Is CBD Oil Good for Psoriasis?

Many people use topical treatments for psoriasis, though studies are currently underway to see whether CBD oil can help too. CBD has anti-inflammatory properties, which can possibly reduce inflammation in conditions such as psoriasis.

A 2019 study from the Department of General Surgery and Surgical Specialties in Italy performed a randomised study to investigate CBD-ointment’s effects on chronic skin diseases. The study looked at twenty patients with various skin diseases receiving daily treatments for three months. The results showed that CBD-enriched topical treatments could improve psoriasis symptoms, with little to no allergic reactions.

Is CBD Oil Good for Arthritis?

CBD works not only better to relax people but also to reduce inflammation. Arthritis occurs because of inflammation around the joints, so CBD could be a viable treatment for it.

There’s plenty of animal evidence to suggest CBD can reduce pain from arthritis, but there aren’t many human clinical studies confirming this. One animal study from 2017 indicated that CBD might help with pain from osteoarthritis (OA). Scientists induced the condition in male rats, and their CBD treatment showed a reduction in joint inflammation and therefore blocked OA pain.

Is CBD Oil Good for Migraines?

Similar to the other conditions described above, there is no formal evidence suggesting CBD’s benefits for migraines. Scientists believe that CBD may affect pain receptors in the brain, as shown in a 2017 study review, but more studies are necessary for confirmation.

Where can I buy CBD oil food supplements in Ireland?

Luckily, there are a few online quality CBD stores with reputable owners and expert knowledge on best utilising CBD.

Dr Hemp Me is an excellent place to begin. If you’re unsure how to start using CBD, you can leave a message on their website’s instant chat. They also have a wide range of CBD oil products, all of which come from outdoor farms throughout Ireland and the UK. An active blog will provide potential customers with plenty of information relating to CBD food supplements.

Ceelabb and CBD Store offer all the same quality products as the previous store. You can also send them a message through either their website chat or the WhatsApp button. A company which can provide proof of product testing is one to trust and all three stores mentioned here have test reports available on their website or on request.

Of course, you can always visit your local CBD store or even your local pharmacy. Unfortunately, pharmacies may not have the same level of knowledge as an actual CBD store. You might be better off with a CBD store, which usually has experts employed for such questions or product suggestions.

How Do I Take CBD Oil Supplements?

The fun of CBD is that you can take it any way you like. You can take it as a gummy, as a topical oil, or as a regular oil dosage through the mouth.

However, you have to treat it like any other daily food or health supplement. To get the full effects, you have to take it every day, and generally around the same time.

To consume CBD orally, you should drop the oil under your tongue, not on top. Hold the oil for around 90 seconds, and then swallow.

If you’re unsure how much CBD you should take, consult an expert since each person may require different dosages. You can go to a local CBD store and start asking questions there. Feel free to message an expert on the online stores mentioned above and get their opinions as well.

Above all, talk to your doctor if you’re concerned about mixing CBD with other medications. It should be safe, on the whole, to combine CBD with other medicines, but make sure before you fully commit to buying an expensive bottle of CBD.
