Hemp based products are consistently on the rise across the Irish food supplement market, thanks to consumer demand for more holistic, natural alternatives to over-the-counter and prescription medications. With product options increasing by the month in Ireland, how do you choose the right one?
Choosing the right CBD product depends on the health benefits you want and whether or not you have used CBD in the past. According to more than 1000 CBD studies on Cannarchives, CBD as a food supplement has its health benefits. And as a CBD user for more than 5 years, I have to agree.
While a higher-strength CBD oil may give you more relief, you should start with lower strength oils in your diet if you are new to cannabis products and work up. Time will allow your body to build up a gradual supply of CBD and see if you need to go with a higher potency oil or not.
The great thing to know about CBD is that it is a natural health supplement, which you can add to your everyday diet just like other beneficial food supplements and vitamins. Receptors in the body’s Endocannabinoid System react to the various cannabinoids in CBD oils to produce potential positive effects.
A lot of women and men want to know how long Cannabidiol supplements take to have an effect on your body. Like any other vitamin supplement you may add to your diet, CBD can work quickly in some cases and more slowly in others. Key factors to using hemp products successfully include consistency of use, quality cannabinoids and drop dosage.
Effects will vary and like everything CBD may not work for everyone but I can personally say I experience positive effects on my wellness daily and hopefully, you will too. Here you can read up on the top Cannabidiol brands currently serving the Irish market.

Irish Hemp Products to Order in 2021
Here you can find a selection of hemp products hailing from the Irish CBD market which are quality options to supplement a balanced diet with. Each brand has a best-selling product and each are presented in more detail below.
#1 Dr Hemp Me Full Spectrum CBD Oil 10%
(My Choice)
Dr. Hemp Me’s second-most potent Cannabidiol supplement and by far their most popular CBD product is my number one choice from this brand. This Irish brand specialises in full-spectrum oils which is a huge plus for me. Full-spectrum products allow for all cannabinoids to be present and work in synergy with one another, also called the ‘Entourage Effect’.
Why is this the Most Popular Product?
Full-spectrum refers to the level of various cannabinoids present in CBD oil. This oil is extracted from the whole cannabis plant which means it contains CBD and all other naturally occurring cannabinoids including THC. THC is the psychoactive compound of cannabis but only features as a tiny element of this CBD oil – 0.2% or less.
This percentage of THC or tetrahydrocannabinol is not enough to cause a ‘high’ in the user but it does certainly make a difference to the effectiveness of the oil. I have always found full-spectrum products to be more effective for pain and the neurological symptoms associated with my migraines.
This product certainly meets the quality mark and I would recommend it to anyone who wishes to reap the benefits of the natural hemp plant for themselves.
For me, it really is the best product in their CBD range and lucky for you readers I have a 10% discount code to drop that price down even further – use CBDREVIEW10 for 10% off. Please bear in mind though if the product is already on sale then this code will not work until the sale period is over.

How does it help? While to most the 10% will be sufficient the 20% is a necessity to those who have serious pain and inflammation issues. If it is just mind-calming effects you are after then this oil is a little strong and you would be better off purchasing the 10% full-spectrum CBD oil.
#2 CBD Eire 5% Oil
CBD Eire is a relatively new Irish brand of CBD oil that offers solely cold-pressed extracted CBD. What is cold-pressed CBD Oil? Basically, cold pressing is the most natural process by which the hemp extract is taken from the hemp plant.
No heat or chemicals are used in the extraction process of this Cannabidiol which is the prime mission of CBD Eire. The CBD range right now features 6 products all of which are cold-pressed CBD oils. You can choose from 3 bottle sizes and 2 strengths. The tincture sizes range from 10ml to 100ml in size and the CBD oil strength includes 3% and 5% cold-pressed concentrations.
What’s great about this product, in particular, is the large 30ml bottle full of high-quality cold-pressed oil. For those who find CBD oil harsh on their taste buds, this option is ideal for you as cold-pressed products like this one come in lower strengths of Cannabidiol content and so naturally have a milder taste.

The soft green colour of this oil is a reminder of the natural ingredients, including Omega fatty acids, chlorophyll from hemp seeds and of course a range of full-spectrum cannabinoids. The all-natural process by which this oil is made makes it ideal for wellness enthusiasts and those who wish to add a beneficial food supplement to their daily diet.
#3 Ceelabb 10% Full Spectrum Drops
Ceelabb is another Irish CBD brand which operates online and offers a great range of CBD products. From CBD oils to Gummies to vape oil they have a multitude of options. Ceelabb are well known for the quality of their CBD products and affordable prices.
All Ceelabb CBD oils come in larger 30ml bottles which may suit some people more than the smaller 10ml option most brands stick to. The CBD oil I use and recommend from Ceelabb is light in colour and has a nice, natural hemp flavour.
The dropper is easy to use, and they offer deals if you purchase more than one bottle at a time. Ceelabb is a favourite of mine due to their affordability also. Founded by two Irish people this brand’s products are certainly worth investing in.

The 1oo0mg is the best oil to start on and it is usually for most the highest percentage you will need. If you are looking for a mind-calming effect then this really is your ideal product. The oil is still potent enough to help with inflammation, however, for some customers depending on tolerance they will need a higher percentage amount of CBD like the 20%.
#4 Endoca 15% Raw Hemp Oil
Endoca is the first raw full-spectrum CBD oil I tried, and it didn’t disappoint. Dark orange/brown in colour, this oil is potent and effective in my experience. The 15% (1500mg) CBD oil is a nice concentration as it lies between the strength of my two usual favourites – 10% and 20% CBD oils.
This product also contains 5 grams of Vitamin E which can help to support immune system function in the body. The taste of this product is strong in comparison to Ceelabb CBD oil for example, but it is simply down to the ‘raw’ nature of this product.
A raw CBD oil is one which is unrefined or unheated during extraction from the hemp plant. This allows CBDa or Cannabidiolic acid to remain present in the oil which is the subject of research due to its potential health benefits. A rich oil in flavour and colour you can be sure of its quality and high concentration of cannabinoids.

This oil is potent with a rich terpene profile. If you are looking for an effective, top quality oil with the added extra of CBDa then this is the one for you.
#5 CBD One Signature Blend Range
CBD One is the latest brand I have tried on this list of best CBD oils in 2021. It is UK based and clever in its approach to customer service. The oil I tried and tested from this brand is 1000mg CBD in strength and is called ‘Signature Blend No.2’.
Hemp extract used in this oil is Dutch in origin and rich in terpenes which gives it a nice flavour. This option is full spectrum and can be bought in bundles of 2 or 5 if you prefer to buy more at once.
This brand is the only one on this list with a subscription service on offer. Most people who take CBD oil take it regularly and make a monthly investment, this is where CBD One can help. Regular deliveries of these products can be planned for every 3, 4 or 5 weeks to make sure men and women always have their supplement at hand.

If you are not sure about which oil to start with, try the 10%. It can also be suitable for your furry friends as the 10% is perfectly safe to give in smaller doses to large dogs and horses. So, if you wish to try out CBD oil for yourself or your pet why not buy a bottle and both give it a go
Cannabidiol Benefits & Studies
Research studies have shown promising results for the use of CBD oils in the treatment of various health conditions. Those who support the supplementation of CBD products and use them daily claim that this hemp extract could help with conditions like migraine, chronic pain, insomnia among others.
For example, one such condition cited by many CBD users is anxiety. A study that reviews preliminary clinical trials using Cannabidiol to treat anxiety and depression supports the potential of CBD as a new form of treatment with a ‘positive risk-benefit profile’.
Another study which focuses on the use of Cannabidiol for anxiety-related disorders concludes that CBD is a promising form of therapy for people managing anxiousness regularly. However, this study stressed the need for further, more specific trials relating to CBD doses which could determine a standardised method of dosing CBD oil for anxiety.
Personally, I have really benefited from adding CBD oil and other CBD products to my diet every day. I started using CBD oil for frequent, debilitating migraines. CBD oil supplements positively affected the strength and frequency of my migraines and also anxiousness. I use CBD as a preventative measure as much as a reactive method to the onset of a migraine.
Today, many years after taking my first CBD supplement I no longer rely on having a strong prescription in my handbag or beside my bed. I only carry a bottle of CBD oil with me or have a tub of CBD Gummies in my kitchen press in case a migraine hits. I have to say though, the frequency of migraines and anxiety dropped massively the year I began taking CBD products and has remained that way since.
When Should I take CBD Oil?
As with anything start small and work your way up. You can take CBD oil any time, but you might want to adjust your personal dose of cannabinoids depending on how it affects you. If you notice, like me, that CBD oil gives you mental clarity or removes that morning brain fog then its best to take CBD oil in the morning.
If you want to fight the afternoon slump, take the oil at lunchtime. It is advised to take CBD oil two hours before or after any medication you may be taking to allow both to have an equal effect on your body and not interfere with one other.

How to Use:
Every CBD oil has different strengths in terms of the concentration of CBD so the dosage will naturally be different for each. The recommendation is to start with 20-30mg of CBD per day and build weekly then if you feel you need it. Here’s a quick guide on how to use CBD oil:
- With Dr. Hemp Me for example there is 5mg of CBD in each drop from their 10ml bottles. If I use a 5% (500mg) oil then I know to start with 8 drops per day. If I use a 10% bottle of their oil I start with 5 drops per day. You can add an extra drop to your intake each week if you think you need it.
- Once you have the dose you want simply fill the dropper up and slowly drop the oil under your tongue. Hold the oil under the tongue for 90 seconds to 2 minutes allowing the oil to soak into your bloodstream sublingually.
- After 90 seconds you can then swallow. Of course, as you get used to taking CBD oil you can judge your own personal, ideal dose just as I do. With time you will know how much CBD oil you should intake depending on how you are feeling.
- Tip: swallow any excess saliva in your mouth before dropping the oil under your tongue. This lets the oil absorb quicker as it is not being diluted by saliva. This also prevents any stowaway oil from getting into the main part of your mouth before you swallow.
Hemp Products & Potential Uses
In Ireland, CBD oil is classed as a health food supplement as authorised by the HPRA (Health Products Regulatory Authority). This means that sellers and manufacturers of such products cannot make any medical claims in relation to CBD and its use.
However clinical trials were undertaken and anecdotal evidence shows promising potential for the use of CBD oil and CBD products to treat health issues such as skin disorders, joint and bone health, illnesses which attack the immune system, epilepsy and diabetes.
Researchers have put a range of diseases and the associated symptoms to the test using CBD as a possible treatment with some definite success. Personally, CBD helps me deal with two forms of migraine which can occur from my allergy to milk products and stress. It also helps me with anxiety and I use hemp cream for sore muscles after the gym.
Is it Safe to Use?
There is a great need for CBD Oil laboratory testing in Ireland as all CBD supplements should undergo independent lab testing before they are marketed online. When it comes to CBD, I’ve tried many companies and CBD products. But, I wasn’t satisfied as they didn’t help my symptoms to the extent I hoped.
It can be hard to believe various claims from brands about the quality of their CBD products. That’s why you should study copies of product lab test reports before purchasing from any brand, or at least ask for proof of completed ones.
Other Beneficial Health Food Supplements
The health food supplements we should add to our diet depends on a variety of factors. Men and women will have different needs mainly relating to hormones and different organs present in the body. Another factor is disease and if specific vitamins and minerals are needed to help combat symptoms.
All people are different and age also is a factor. We are always at risk of taking too many supplements or even too little of a certain vitamin. It can be hard to tell so don’t get too worried about it. Look at your diet and start from there…
For example I have developed an allergy to dairy products in the past couple of years. This means I probably lack calcium intake in my current diet. I try to incorporate foods which are natural sources of Calcium but it’s not always easy so I take a calcium and magnesium supplement each day for bone health. I can really feel the effect of this supplement on my body each day.
Other nutrients and minerals that are beneficial as a daily health supplement are Zinc (immune system & skin), Vitamin D supplements (bone, muscle, teeth), folate (vitamin B-9), B-Vitamins (energy) and magnesium (blood pressure, immune health).
A Vitamin D deficiency is not essential in order to take regular doses of Vitamin D. Living in Ireland we get a lot less sun than we need so we can often be naturally lacking in this vitamin. It aids your immune system and is good for muscles and bones but always consult with your doctor first to be sure.
Of course, if you’d rather not invest in vitamins or go down the natural route then try to get certain sources of food into your diet. Sources of calcium include milk, yogurt and sardines. A source of Vitamin C is orange juice. Omega-3’s can be found in fatty fish like salmon and play a role in lowering the risk of heart disease. Egg is a great source of Vitamin D.
Is Cannabidiol & Hemp Legal in Ireland?
If you want to buy CBD oil in Ireland or you’re thinking about bringing CBD oil to the island of Ireland on a holiday perhaps then it is important to check the legality of this product. So, is CBD oil legal in Ireland or not? You will be glad to know that the sale and purchase of CBD oil is fully legal in Ireland.
There is some confusion however amongst the general public regarding the legality of CBD oil and other CBD products. If selling or purchasing CBD oil in Ireland it must be classed as a food supplement rather than a ‘medicinal’ or ‘health’ product. Food supplements do not have to be bought on prescription. This is why you can buy CBD oil online or in stores.
The Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA) does not recognise cannabis-derived products, including CBD, as having any medicinal benefits and so these products cannot be classed as ‘medicinal’. This can lead people in search of CBD oil to question its legality. One CBD product that is illegal in Ireland is CBD flowers or in other terms CBD buds. Although this law is not always enforced as CBD flowers can often be purchased in Ireland.
The reason that CBD oil is legally sold and purchased as a food supplement in Ireland is down to the plant it comes from. The hemp plant, which is a variation of the cannabis plant, contains a lot less Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) than the cannabis plant itself. THC, for those who don’t know, is the psychoactive component of cannabis, which produces a ‘high’.
CBD on the other hand does not produce this ‘high’ as it is non-psychoactive. Both THC and CBD are cannabinoids however both are derived from different forms of the cannabis plant and so have a different effect on the person taking it. In order for CBD oil to be sold legally in Ireland it must only contain trace amounts of THC (<0.2%) or none at all.
Where to Buy CBD Oil in Ireland?

You can even avail of some store’s online chat service to get answers to any questions you may have or simply visit their websites FAQ page. Are Dr. Hemp Me's CBD oils "full spectrum"?
Full-spectrum is the latest buzz word in the CBD community and so it should be. Full-spectrum basically means that the whole plant was used in the production of the oil. This is important as CBD works better when all other cannabinoids are synergistically combined. All of Dr. Hemp Me's CBD oils are full spectrum.
What is Dr. Hemp Me's most popular product?
Dr. Hemp Me's 10% CBD oil is by far there most popular product and definitely my favourite. At €66.95 it is still expensive however when buying CBD oil you should always by premium products and Dr. Hemp Me is certainly that.
How much does CBD oil Cost?
Dr. Hemp Me's CBD oil's range from €34.95 to €249.95
Got the 20% CBD and il never use anything else. Love it 🙂
Try the 10% man. I was using the 20% and paying a fortune and then I tried the 10% and I found it worked just the same!! And now im saving 60 euro a bottle.
Been using the lemon kush vape pen basically because I could not find a stronger vape oil. Very pleased although it is only one mil. Would love it they brought out a bottle of the 20% stuff.
I was just thinking the same thing. I have been using the OG Kush and the oil is amazing but only 1mil is in the refill cartridge. I have to buy two cartridges every time.
Yea I definitely agree, they need to bring out a 10mil bottle of the OG Kush and Lemon Haze vape oil!
Excellent oil, by far the best I have tried!!
I love OG KUSH
