You may or may not have already heard about Hemp Shampoo, also known as CBD shampoo. I randomly came across some before and after photos of a girl on Instagram who suffered dramatic hair loss due to a sudden illness and used Hemp Shampoo to regain her hair growth.
The photos were quite shocking, both in terms of the severity of her hair loss and the dramatic increase in growth from using Hemp Shampoo regularly. I review CBD products all the time but had never really considered trying CBD shampoo or any sort of CBD hair products.
I use high-quality hair extensions regularly so when I take a break from them I like to focus on the growth of my hair. I didn’t really know anything about hemp shampoo and certainly didn’t realise the potential of Hemp Shampoo for hair loss in particular. Before anyone gets sceptical reading this, there is science behind this method.
CBD or hemp itself as many of us know is a natural anti-inflammatory. This is generally the reason people seek out this natural supplement to improve or simply maintain their health. The other main reason for using CBD or hemp products is its link with the Endocannabinoid system or the ECS which exists in all of our bodies. If this system is off balance or ‘out of whack’ then Cannabidiol acts as an agent for re-balancing this system.
When we think of tackling issues like hair loss or dandruff we tend to think of the individual hairs on our head rather than the skin. Our scalp’s condition rather is the area we should be paying attention to and looking to make healthier. Inflammation in the scalp can result in hair being lost and/ or dandruff forming due to dry patches and irritation caused by inflammation.
So, the application of CBD or hemp shampoo on this area can be very helpful to reduce the level of inflammation and improve the overall health of the scalp. From a healthy scalp, healthy hair can grow. CBD products have also been linked to evidence of increased blood circulation which if applied to the scalp can improve the quality of the skin with the circulation of essential nutrients to each individual hair.

This product is a nice little investment for anyone looking to improve the quality of their hair growth using a natural product, or for someone suffering from irregular hair loss. Cannaderm hemp shampoo features a host of natural ingredients which work together to improve the rate of hair growth from the scalp.
Cannabis Sativa seed oil (hemp), caffeine, nettle and ginger extracts all feature in the ingredients list of this hemp shampoo. The 15% hemp oil content acts as an anti-inflammatory while the combination of caffeine, nettle and ginger work to improve circulation to the scalp and hair follicles.
Washing:
As with any shampoo apply this product to wet hair and lather. Gently lather the hemp shampoo on your scalp and also down into the length of your hair. Cannaderm recommend leaving the product in your hair for at least 3 minutes before rinsing it out. This will give the product sufficient time to get to work on your scalp and hair before being washed down the drain!
After washing:
It is important at this stage to continue to be gentle with your freshly washed hair and scalp. If you want to towel dry your hair then be mindful to not rub your scalp too much or your hair for that matter. You don’t want to cause any unnecessary irritation to the scalp or hair as it is more fragile when it is wet. This applies to how you brush your hair out also.
If you have long hair brush from the bottom up holding sections of your hair at mid length so as not to pull the hair at the root when brushing.
Use:
Cannaderm do advise customers that losing about 100 hairs a day is perfectly normal and a part of the scalp’s daily shedding but if you start to notice your hair thinning or you find a bald patch then you are looking at a hair loss issue.
This product should be used regularly for 6-8 weeks before any potential improvement can be seen. It does take time for hair to grow, so consistent use of any hair loss product is essential. From using CBD products regularly myself I know that consistency is key to see the benefits.
Cannaderm Capillus Anti- Dandruff Shampoo
This anti-dandruff product combines the power of a variety of natural ingredients to reduce itchiness, flakes and oil production on the scalp which can lead to the formation of dandruff. Pure hemp oil (7%) and climbazole (a common preservative used to tackle dandruff) are two of the main ingredients in this hemp shampoo.
Seed extract from grapefruit plus marjoram (a herb from the same family as thyme) are another two ingredients used to help fight dandruff in this shampoo. Agrimony is a flowering herb which is known for its anti-inflammatory properties, which explains its inclusion in the ingredients of this hemp shampoo.
Washing:
The most essential part of using this anti-dandruff hemp shampoo is of course the application and washing. It is crucial to ensure you leave the product on your hair line and scalp for at least 3 minutes and preferably 5 minutes to make sure the formula has a chance to work.
Applying the shampoo and rinsing it out quickly will significantly reduce the chance of it affecting your scalp’s condition. Apply the product to wet hair, lather gently trying not to scrub your scalp too much. Leave for at least 3 minutes, more preferably and rinse thoroughly.
After Washing:
With dandruff on the scalp it is important to be very delicate with your after washing. Be gentle when drying with a towel, brushing and styling so as not to disturb the loose, dry skin on your scalp. Remember too that everyday hair products like hair spray, gel and de tangling cream or spray will only irritate your scalp.
Keep these products clear of the affected area or avoid using them altogether until the issue has improved.
Use:
Cannaderm Capillus Anti-Dandruff Shampoo is suitable for anyone experiencing mild to moderate dandruff on their scalp. If you think your dandruff is more severe and possible a result of ‘seborrhoea’ (this is an overproduction and discharge of sebum or oil from the sebaceous glands in the skin) then you maybe should look at Cannaderm Capillus Seborrhoea shampoo instead.
This version of hemp shampoo targets the production of oil or sebum in particular which can cause bacteria to build on the scalp and produce dandruff and / or sores.
